Nano scientists meeting nano entrepreneurs & intrapreneurs

General Workshop Information

This workshop is the second NanoBio workshop organized by science and entrepreneurship. With this workshop we try, in addition to regional initiatives , to look at ways to help PhD level start-ups and further stimulate cooperation of universities/institutes, NanoBio spinoffs, start-ups and OEMs . As such, this second international “Nano science & entrepreneurship“ event will be organized on June 27 & 28, 2017, at the University Leuven in Belgium . This event aims to gather an international audience with an annual follow-up in different EU countries.

The aim of the workshop is to connect academic business initiatives to prospective academic and corporate customers in the field of nanotechnology (physics , chemistry, bio, food). The basic premise is that early academic business initiatives find early adopters of their prototypes and products, amongst their PhD level peers.

Who should attend and why?

  • Scientists, Universities & Research institutes During this workshop, lectures and presentations will be given where scientific knowledge and information is exchanged, which can be helpful and is important for all participants. We aim at new collaborations with start-ups, beneficial for both parties. Students are encouraged to give a poster presentation.

  • For Start-ups & Spin-offs is this workshop a nice meet & match opportunity for the participants. During this workshop, lectures and table-top presentations will be held where we encourage collaboration between the participants and where we aim to enlarge the customer base. Furthermore, this workshop is an opportunity to make contact with possible Venture capitalists and investors. Start-ups & spin-offs can present their equipment and latest innovation in form of a booth during the workshop and are encouraged to give a presentation.

  • SMEs and OEMs, can present their latest innovations and equipment using booth or give a presentation during this workshop.

  • Venture capitalists & Investors who belief in the vision and scope of newly created start-ups and spin-offs can join the workshop. This workshop will provide meet & match opportunity and is an ideal location for venture capitalists and investors to get in contact with new start-ups & spin-offs.
